Lionfish Information

There are many stakeholders in the Treasure Coast of Florida, who are working collaborately to educate the public on the menacing lionfish. Although the invasion has been swift, we truly feel that any and all eradication efforts will make a difference. This website is designed to assist all stakeholders with their efforts.
Lionfish Eradication - Highlights ongoing eradication efforts. Currently Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation is working on a project to verify areas of the Indian River Lagoon System, where lionfish are known or suspected. If you have an interest in joining in their effort please contact Jeff Beal @ jeff.beal@myfwc.com. Click here for the Indian River Lagoon Lionfish Megatransect Survey, 2012.
Lionfish Happenings - This page will be promoting regional Lionfish events and symposiums. Please feel free to e-mail us your lionfish event and we will post it on our calendar.
Lionfish Catch & Cook - This page will feature how to catch, fillet & cook lionfish. This past July, April Price cooked & served them at our 2nd Annual Lionfish Round-Up. "My experience is they cook and taste very much like Hog Snapper," says Price. Send us your favorite recipes on the "Contact Us" page and maybe we will publish your favorite.
